Fans have speculated that the placement of candles on the image is a clue, most notably the one placed beneath the word "Hammerfell" in the undrawn area of the map West of Skyrim. No one is quite sure if the image posted is really a clue about Elder Scrolls 6, but the message about "mapping the future" sure does seem like it could be.
Thanks to a New Year's post by Bethesda at the very end of 2020, Hammerfell is another possible destination. Speaking of Hammerfell, Bethesda already might have teased it as a location as well. It's a very tiny detail that could be nothing, but it sure is a distinct shape. It also looks suspiciously like Tamriel's Illiac Bay, which sits between High Rock and Hammerfell. After all, Bethesda’s been generous enough to give us a dozen or so re-releases of Skyrim, and plenty of the earlier Elder Scrolls games have been released on Steam. While you wait, it's not like there's no Elder Scrolls to play. Sounds like there’ll be plenty of planets to wander around in the meantime, though, if you're a star trekking kind of person. With the space game taking up Bethesda’s development focus, it’s a sure bet that it’ll be a healthy wait before any Elder Scrolls reveals. We don't expect to have any verified details about Elder Scrolls 6 until after the release of Starfield, Bethesda’s sprawling scifi RPG due sometime in 2023.
